Wrestling Finishes Fourth at Liberty Classic

Junior Blake Sweetman was named the Outstanding Wrestler, and the Broncos had seven individual placers at the Liberty Classic. The team finished fourth in the season-opening invitational at Liberty High School.

Sweetman pinned all his opponents in the first round, including his final opponent from Shadow Ridge, Nevada.

"We are competing with some holes in the line-up due to injuries. Two captains are out - Adam Angulo, our state finalist, and Cooper Carey, a top-ranked 165-pounder in the state, but the team competed well this weekend, displaying true grit. Sophomores Parker Mickelson and Beau Wallace and seniors Axel Lauer and Tanner Dryer won hard-fought matches, proving they are prepared for a successful 2024-2025 campaign.  I am proud of this year's team and every wrestler," Coach Catan said.

The team went 4-2 in duals, defeating Desert Mountain, Sunnyslope, Team X, and ALA-Ironwood.  Kofa and Rancho Bernardo (Calif.) beat the short-handed Bronco team.
