O’Riley Wins US Rowing Mens Youth 1x National Title

Ian O’Riley ‘24 won the USRowing Youth National Championship in the Men Youth 1x in 7:14.04 to record the win over Henry Davison of Oak Neck Rowing Academy (7:19.84) by 5.80 seconds at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.

“Ian’s performances this year were incredible,” said Brophy Head Coach Pete Cannia. ‘I couldn't be prouder of him and all his hard work and dedication. I am incredibly proud of our program's inspiration and the daily Brophy Crew-winning culture it brings.”

O’Riley, who will compete for and attend school at Harvard, will participate in the U.S. U19 National Team trials July 5-7 in West Windsor, N.J., looking to earn a spot in the single skull.

Rising junior Brody Jennings placed seventh in his heat and 15th overall at the USRowing Youth National Championships in the Men’s U17 1x on Sunday.

“Brody trained every morning and afternoon with Ian,” said Cannia. “ I don't think Ian would have had such a good season without Brody pushing Ian harder and harder at every practice.”
