Brophy Football to Play in 2023 SoCal Honor Bowl vs. Cathedral Catholic

The Brophy College Preparatory football team will play in the 2023 SoCal Honor Bowl against Cathedral Catholic on Friday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Ticket information will be released over the summer.

“Our kids are fired up for the challenge to play such a good opponent like Cathedral Catholic,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “The boys are working extremely hard and knowing we are playing such a good team should motivate them even more. The Honor Bowl has a rich tradition of hosting great football games and the city of San Diego embraces this event. We are looking forward to making the trip on Sept. 1st. It will be fun!”

The Honor Bowl is coordinated by the Honor Group, whose mission is to educate students, coaches and the community about patriotism while raising money for injured, ill and wounded veterans.  This is the 13th year for The Honor Bowl which started at Del Oro High School in the Sacramento area. Now after over 1000 games with teams that have traveled from 11 states, The Honor Bowl continues to attract some of the best High School Football Programs in the U.S. 

The Dons are coached by Sean Doyle and went 6-6 in 2022. They are a CIF San Diego Section member that plays in the Western League.

The AIA announced the start of the 2023 season will be on August 25. Cathedral will be the second game of the season for the Broncos, who are slated to play in the new 6A Central Region with Corona del Sol, Desert Vista, Mountain Pointe and Salpointe.
