Senior Declan Kelly to Play Soccer at Arizona Christian University
Brophy senior Declan Kelly has committed to attend school and play soccer at Arizona Christian University in Glendale.
“I am most excited about attending a school where I can continue to grow in my faith,” said Kelly. “I look forward to staying close to home and family while pursuing my education and playing soccer.”
He will play for Head Coach Ted Krzywiecki, who has been at the Glendale school for four seasons. He led the Firestorm to a fourth consecutive postseason appearance and third semi-final appearance in 2024.
“I chose ACU because of the environment the coach builds between himself and the players,” said Kelly. “Everyone made me feel welcome from the moment I got there. I enjoyed being on campus and playing alongside the players.
Kelly played for Brophy his first two seasons, as well as for the Madison Futbol Club, FC Batavia, and the RSL-AZ soccer clubs.
His favorite memory of Brophy soccer was the morning breakfasts before the games.
“Declan is a hard-working, gritty player who will bring great energy to the Firestorm program,” said Head Coach Marc Kelly.
He plans to study biblical studies with a minor in theology.
“Playing soccer in college means a lot to me, and being able to see how my work has paid off is a blessing,” said Kelly. “It is also a giant blessing to be able to continue to play the sport that I love for four more years.”
He will participate in the Brophy Signing Day event on Wednesday, April 23.
