Logan Powell is in his second year in the Brophy program and has committed to play at the University of Wisconsin. He was named the preseason 6A Conference Player of the Year by Sollenberger’s and was on the magazine’s cover. He was selected to the 2024 Fiesta Sports Foundation Preseason All-State Football Team and the 2024 All-Arizona Preseason selection for the second consecutive season.
Why did you choose the University of Wisconsin?
“On my visit, I met all the offensive linemen and loved the vibe and brotherhood. It felt very similar to Brophy. The offensive line coach, AJ Blazek, is an awesome and great guy. After I did my research, I found that the school was great. It has a top business school and offers kinesiology, two areas of interest for me. The overall vibe of the campus was awesome.”
What was the best and worst part of the recruiting process for you and considering among 27 official offers?
“The worst was managing my schedule and answering all the texts. I had to constantly be on my phone to see if a coach had texted or called me. I had to call coaches who had shown interest when I decided on Wisconsin. I am dead set on Wisconsin, but it was awkward. The best thing was the attention from all the schools.”
What has been the best aspect of the Brophy experience since your transfer?
“My favorite part has been meeting all the new people; the brotherhood here is amazing. It has been part of a great group of guys on the offensive line and football team. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming.”
How did you lean on your older brother Tyler regarding coming to Brophy and the recruiting process?
“I lean on Tyler a lot. He is a college athlete at Arizona. I wanted to know what to look for in a coach and a program.”
The playoffs are tonight, marking the start of a new season. How is the team refocusing to prepare for the playoffs?
“We were pretty bummed we did not make the Open playoffs, which is reasonable. We must ensure we stay on track to compete for the ring. We are going to go all out to get the championship.”
