Football’s Dom Mitchell Set to Sign with Kansas State

Football senior defensive back Dom Mitchell has committed to playing and attending Kansas State University. The Wildcats play in the Big 12 and recently finished an eight-win regular season.

“It is super exciting,” said Mitchell of his commitment to Kansas State. “The recruiting process was stressful. The coaches were coming through campus in the winter and spring. I did not know where I was leaning and did not have the Kansas State offer until the end of May.”

He recently attended a game at Kansas State for the rivalry game against Kansas.

“It solidified my choice,” recalled Mitchell. “It was insane how big the tailgate it was. We saw the athletic performance table and watched pregame warmups. It got me super excited for what is to come.”

He will play for KSU head Coach Chris Klieman, who led the school to eight or more wins in five of its six seasons.

Mitchell has been a three-year letterwinner for the Broncos and has participated on the track and field team. Last season, he qualified for the state championships in javelin.

As a junior, Mitchell was an AIA 6A All-Conference honorable mention choice and earned Central Region first-team defense at the flex position after ranking second on the team in tackles with 72.

Mitchell was named to the All-Central Region first-team defense in 2024, ranking third on the team with 64 total tackles (46 solo) with 4.0 tackles for loss. He had a career-best 11 tackles at Salpointe and tallied 10 in his final game in the AIA 6A Conference semifinal game against Mountain View. He finished with 191 career tackles, the sixth-best total in school history.

“What a career Dom has had for us!” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. He was a three-year starter, three-year all-region, and two-time all-state selection. Dom grew into one of the leaders of our program and has been vital to the new heights we have reached. A versatile player in our secondary, Dom has played multiple positions, whatever the team needed. That same versatility is part of what made him attractive to the coaches at Kansas State. A great student, a great kid, and a great teammate, Dom will have great success for the Wildcats.”

Mitchell will participate in the Brophy Collegiate Signing Day Celebration on Dec. 4.
