Football’s Powell Committed to the University of Wisconsin

Brophy senior offensive lineman Logan Powell has committed to playing and attending the University of Wisconsin. 

“On my visit, I met all the offensive linemen and loved the vibe and brotherhood,” said Powell. “It felt very similar to Brophy. The offensive line coach, AJ Blazek, is an awesome guy. After I did my research, I found that the school was great. It has a top business school and offers kinesiology, two areas of interest for me. The overall vibe of the campus was awesome.”

Powell was among the country's top offensive linemen recruits, with 27 official offers. He says answering all the texts and calls was the most challenging part of the process, as well as calling all the coaches after he made his decision.

He looked to his older brother, Tyler, a Brophy alum and a tight at the University of Arizona, for guidance.

“I leaned on Tyler a lot,” said Powell. “He is a college athlete at Arizona. I wanted to know what to look for in a coach and a program.”

With offers from across the country, including Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, Oregon State, TCU, Texas Tech, Tennessee, UNLV, and Washington, he chose Wisconsin.

After playing his first two seasons at Saguaro, Powell is in his second year in the Brophy program. He was named the No. 1 prospect in the Arizona Republic Top 150 (August 2024), the preseason 6A Conference Player of the Year by Sollenberger’s, was selected to the 2024 Fiesta Sports Foundation Preseason All-State Football Team and the 2024 All-Arizona Preseason selection for the second consecutive season. He was named the 2024 Central Region Offensive Player of the Year.

“Logan has been around our program for longer than anyone else on this stage, serving as a ball boy when his older brother Tyler was playing for us,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “Seeing him grow from that tall skinny kid to the Region Player of the Year is amazing! That is an accomplishment that an offensive lineman rarely wins. This shows the respect he had from the coaches in our region. Logan is a special player and a special kid. He will do amazing things in Wisconsin.”
While he did not start at Brophy, he is glad he came home for his final two seasons.

“My favorite part has been meeting all the new people; the brotherhood here is amazing,” said Powell of the transfer to Brophy. “It was a great group of guys on the offensive line and football team. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming.”

Powell will participate in the Brophy Collegiate Signing Day Celebration on Dec. 4.
