Brophy Senior Hastings Brislin Commits to Play at Tufts University

Brophy senior Hastings Brislin has committed to play at Tufts University after playing for SC del Sol in the MLS Next. Tufts is a NCAA Division III school in Medford, Mass.

“After my visit and learning about all the academic opportunities available and accommodations for soccer, I felt right at home with the perfect balance of academics and athletics,” said Brislin.

He will play for Head Coach Kyle Dezotell, who has led the Jumbo to back-to-back NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and won five NCAA games since 2021.

“He is a good guy and loves the program,” said Brislin.

Brislin is excited to play his favorite sport at the next level.

“It is everything to play in the college,” said Brislin, a 6-3 center back. “I have always dreamed about playing a sport in college. I have focused on soccer since the fifth grade. Representing the school and making my parents proud will be great.”

He also looks forward to attending school on the East Coast and studying economics/finance. The school provides numerous internship opportunities.

“Boston is an active and cool city,” said Brislin, who scored six goals last season.

He had played for SC del Sol/MLS Next since the third grade. SC del Sol is a large, well-established soccer club with more than 50 teams based in the North Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley areas.

"Hastings has been an exemplary SC del Sol player showing brilliant character both on and off the field,” said Pete Leebrook, Boys Director of Coaching. “His leadership style has always been to lead by example, allowing him to be a strong but composed player. As a defender, he ticks all the boxes and more and is going to be a massive addition to Tufts University.

Hastings's charisma and positive actions on the field are of the highest integrity, and he also models this behavior off the field. One example of this is Hastings is a board member of the Life Foundation, created with SC del Sol to bring awareness to youth mental health. As a Club, we want to thank Hastings for all he has brought to us and his team. We also wish Hastings the best with his new endeavors ahead.”
