Football’s Brayden Michael Commits to Black Hills State University

Brophy senior Brayden Michael has committed to playing football and attending Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota.  The Yellow Jackets are a Division II school that plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

“I love the coaching; it is a promising program,” said Michael. “They are organized. I love the nature outside of the school and outdoor activities. It seems like a good place to call home.”

Michael was a two-year Broncos letter winner, a 2023 and 2024 All-Academic honorable mention selection, and a 2024 All-Central Region first-team selection.

“Brayden bounced around between offensive and defensive line as a junior but finally found his home at left guard this year,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “Brayden punished opposing defensive linemen and was rewarded by being named 1st team All-Region unanimously. Aggressive and nasty, Brayden was never scared to mix it up. I also appreciated his passion. He was a vocal leader and hard worker on the field and in the weight room. I am glad he found the right fit at Black Hills State.”

Michael also participated in wrestling and track and field. Brayden’s favorite Brophy memory is an immersion trip to the Appalachian Mountains with Christian Parenza.

He will play for Head Coach Josh Breske, who also coaches the offensive line.

“He has a lot of good dynamics in his offensive line,” said Michael. “He wants us to be strong up front and physical. They have a great environment in their strength program, and players have seen a lot of improvement.”

Michael will study pre-law and is excited about continuing his football career.

“It means a lot,” said Michael. Coming into my senior year, I knew I wanted it to be my goal to play in college. It is my dream to play the sport further, and I am blessed."

He lists the Dad’s Retreat as one of his favorite memories. He will graduate in the spring as the third of four Michael brothers to attend Brophy: Ryan ‘19, Bryce ‘20, and John ‘27.
