Football’s Bo Hampton to Kick for U.S. Coast Guard Academy

Brophy senior kicker Bo Hampton has committed to play for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
 
“I was attracted to the Academy to serve the United States,” said Hampton. “I look forward to protecting and saving people. Also, I liked the discipline. They are focused on academics and physical fitness.”

Hampton returned to Brophy for his senior season but was not eligible to play for the Broncos. He played one season at Saguaro, helping the Sabercats to the State Championship by kicking six of eight field goals. In 2023, he earned All-Arizona honorable mention honors. He initially attended Brophy. 

“I learned a lot about Bo Hampton’s character this year,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “When faced with similar circumstances, most kids would have quit. Instead, when told he was ineligible and couldn’t play a down for us, Bo decided to stay around, help the team any way he could, be around his brothers and teammates, and still work on his craft. Amazing! And now it’s paid off, Bo, you did it. Overcame the hurdles and are signing to play in college. It will be so sweet when you kick that first touchback for the Coast Guard Academy.”

He will play Head Coach C.C. Grant, who just completed his 23rd season on staff and fourth directing the program. USCGA is located in New London, Conn. 
 
“Playing college football is just a continuation of developing myself to be the best person I can be,” said Hampton. “Football helped me get to the academy. It opened the door.”
 
His favorite football memories include winning the 6A Championship in my junior year and the early morning practices with the special teams boys.
 
“Since returning to Brophy, it has been great,” said Hampton. “Besides being unable to contribute to the football team like I wanted fully. I am getting more out of my education than I would have. I am happy to be associated with such great guys. I am blessed to be back at Brophy.”
 
Hampton participated in the Brophy Football College Commitment Celebration on Feb. 5th, becoming the 13th player in the class to commit.
