Get to Know: #11 Luis Villegas Rosas

Luis is a four-year member of the Brophy Soccer program and a returning letter winner on the varsity team. He is also a graduate of the Loyola Academy. He plans to attend Arizona State University in the fall and study financial planning. He is the middle child and has two sisters. He has been a part of Los Hermanos Unidos on campus.

What does being part of the Brophy Soccer program mean to you?
“It has been an honor because everyone knows Brophy is a competitive school and soccer program. Making the varsity squad last season was tough and a huge achievement. There were only a few juniors on the team. It was a good feeling.”

Why do you wear No. 11?
“I want to be a key player and I hope I have been a key player by showing my passing abilities and skill moves I may use. It is a nice number and looks good from the back.”

What does it mean to represent the Loyola Academy?
“It has been an honor. There are very few that make it to Brophy. It is great I am the only representative on the soccer team from my class. Hopefully, I have made my classmates from Loyola proud.”

Looking forward to graduation this spring, what will that accomplishment mean for you and your family?
“It represented all the hard work and sacrifice they have made for me to get to this point and the end goal. I want to keep pushing forward.”

What does the team need to make a second-half playoff push?
“It has been a rough start to the season. Our team is fine and we have really good players and talent. We need to get our minds together and keep pushing forward. The season is not over and we can still make playoffs and have a shot at our goals. We need to score goals and out all of our chances away.”
