Baseball’s Jack Ryan Commits to Point Loma Nazarene

Brophy senior Jack Ryan has committed to playing baseball and attending Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego in the fall.

“It is incredible that all the work I have put in has led to this,” said Ryan. “I am grateful for everyone who helped me on this road. Point Loma seems like a program similar to Brophy. I am excited about it.”

On the field, Ryan has been a force to reckon with. In his first 17 games, he has maintained an impressive batting average of .367, the fourth-best on the team. Jack leads the team in OPS (1.163) and slugging percentage (.714), with six doubles, one triple, and three home runs. Despite a setback with a broken finger, he has managed to hit safely in 11 of the 17 games.

“Jack Ryan's impact on the Brophy team has been immense. From a lanky freshman finding his way on the field to a key contributor on our varsity team this year, his journey has been a testament to his tireless work ethic. His loyalty, commitment, and effort to our program and teammates have been invaluable. While we'll miss his leadership and work ethic, I'm excited to see him continue to excel at Point Loma,” praised Head Coach Josh Garcia.

Ryan’s biggest hit came in the comeback effort at Red Mountain, winning the game with a seventh-inning grand slam with two outs in the top of the inning. He finished the games with two home runs and five RBI.

Ryan will play for Justin James at PLNU. The Sea Lions have qualified for the NCAA West Regional in all three full seasons played under James, and he has led them to back-to-back PacWest Conference championships.

“You can’t beat the ocean,” said Ryan of the PLNU on the coastline. “I am right there for the next four years. The program is awesome, and the coaches are super down-to-earth. They got me through it all.”

Ryan has also been a Big Brother at Brophy and served as the Vice President of the STEM club.

He will participate in Brophy’s Spring Signing Celebration on April 24.
