The No. 2 Brophy volleyball team defeated Mesa Mountain View 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) to advance to the semifinals. Broncos will host No. 3 Perry for a BLACKOUT on Thursday at 6 p.m.
“I thought we came out uncharacteristically tight to start,” said Head Coach Tony Oldani. “The guys did a good job of executing the game plan, and we settled down once we got in a rhythm. But it was not a clean night for us.”
Brophy improved to 42-3-2 on the season with their 16th consecutive win overall. The Broncos are 12-0 at home in the regular season and playoffs.
“Our passing was really good tonight, and it kept us in it,” said Oldani. “We knew we had more weapons, and they would have to play well. They did at the beginning of each set, but the offense clicked with Colin Zimmerman’s leadership and Caden and Connor.”
Brophy will host No. 3 Perry in the semifinal round on Thursday. The two have met six times this season, with Brophy winning five of the six in straight sets.
