Football Advances in AIA 6A Conference Playoffs with 54-0 Win

The No. 1 Brophy College Prep football team posted a 54-0 win over Boulder Creek in the first round of the AIA 6A Conference playoff bracket. Junior Harrison Chambers rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown and had two catches for 43 yards and a touchdown. It is the third 100-yard game of his career. Senior Cree Thomas had two interceptions, and sophomore Ryder Noche had a pick-six for a score to pace the defense in the shoutout. 

The Broncos (9-2) jumped to a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter. Junior quarterback Case Vanden Bosch had a 32-yard rush and hit Chambers for a 35-yard touchdown out of the backfield. The scoring continued in the second as senior wide receiver Nathan Benzie streaked down the right sideline for a 29-yard reception for a 21-0 lead.

Sophomore Ryhder Noche grabbed the first of three interceptions for the defense, returning it for a touchdown. Chambers provided his second highlight score with a 64-yard scamper. Senior Dom Mitchell added a punt block for a safety to extend the lead to 37-0 at the half.

Christian Camarata got his first touchdown of the season out of the wildcat. Kicker Ryder Hampton added a fourth-quarter 31-yard field goal, and Donovan McNabb, Jr. got his first career touchdown from Rylan Umphrey, who was 7-for-7 for 81 overall off the bench.

Vanden Bosch finished 10-for-12 for 120 yards and two touchdowns with 72 yards on the ground. The Broncos finished with 232 yards rushing, the sixth game of 200 or more rushing yards this season.

Dominic Woods and Thomas both had seven tackles in the game, and James Pike added two sacks. 

The Broncos will host No. 8 Perry on Friday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. at Central HS. The Puma defeated Chandler 27-24. Other 6A Conference playoff scores included No. 5 Salpointe defeating No. 12 Williams Field 31-28, No. 4 Mountain View Mesa defeating Cesar Chavez 52-7, No. 14 Centennial upsetting No. 3 Red Mountain 21-7, No. 11 Castell handing No. 6 Highland a 29-27 loss, No. 7 Pinnacle defeating No. 10 Mountain Pointe 46-7, and No. 2 Queen Creek defeating No. 15 O'Connor. 42-28.
