Get to Know: Volleyball's #15 Aaron Velasco

Aaron Velasco has been playing volleyball for four seasons and is in his second season on the varsity team. He also has run cross country and track and field at Brophy. He enjoys hanging out with his friends and playing video games. He has participated in the FIFA Appreciation, Clash of Clans, and Balloon Tower Defense clubs. His sister is a junior at the U of A.
 
What are your goals for the season?
“The top goal right now is to win state. We are in a good position. We want to make the most of what we have and this season while creating a strong bond with everyone.”
 
What is your role on the team?
“I am an opposite hitter so I hit from the right side. I block the outside, block the free ball, play defense, dig, and serve.”
 
What do you enjoy most about the volleyball program?
“I enjoy the coaches and the people. Being around those people has helped me develop more. The coaches have inspired me to be the best I can be.”
 
What are your college plans?
“I plan to attend the University of Arizona, major in criminal justice, and attend Law School. 
 
What is the key for the team to be successful this season?
“Our key is to keep our head in the game. The season will be great if we keep focus and stay committed to each other.”
 
What is exciting about having so many seniors on the team with you?
“We have been together for four years, and I see them every day. We have that community together, and it is important to mentor the younger players on the team.”
