Volleyball Fifth at Brophy Invitational

The Brophy volleyball team reached the Brophy Invitational consolation semifinals before falling to Sandra Day O’Connor in straight sets, 25-23, 25-16.
The Broncos went 3-2 in pool play on Friday, winning matches over Servite, Highland, and Arbor View (Nev.). Brophy opened with a win over Chandler on Saturday before losing to Perry in the main bracket. Brophy then swept Arbor View in the consolation bracket and defeated in-state rival Casteel 2-1.
Senior setter Colin Zimmerman and junior libero Jude Keane were named to the all-tournament team.
Loyola (Calif.), the fourth-ranked team in the nation by Maxpreps, went undefeated on the weekend, defeating Mater Dei in the championship match 25-22, 25-13.
