Brophy Posts 15-0 Win over Hamilton in AIA 6A Second Round
The Brophy baseball team posted a 15-0 win over No. 7 Hamilton at Tempe Diablo Stadium in the second round of the AIA 6A Conference playoffs. The Broncos advance to Round 3A on Saturday at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
Five players had two hits and scored two or more runs. After plating one in the first inning, Brophy broke the game open in the second. After loading the bases and adding one on a hit-by-pitch, senior Jack Ohman had a bases-clearing triple to extend the lead to 5-0. Willie Cornejo-Farmer then singled to score Ohman. George Smith had the second triple of the inning, scoring Cornejo-Farmer and Jonah Castle, who provided the final hit to score Smith, as Brophy led 8-0.
Ohman (2-2) allowed three hits over five innings with five strikeouts and two walks.
Brophy added four in the third and three in the fourth to finish with 15 runs on 11 hits. The Broncos have now out-scored their opponents 22-0 in the playoffs.
Cornejo Farner finished 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Meissner had two hits and four RBI aided by his fourth home run in the fourth inning.
Brophy is now 23-5 overall. The 23 wins are the most since winning 24 in 2012. The win is the first time Brophy has won three in a row over Hamilton since 2012-13.
This morning, Brophy College Preparatory proudly hosted its New Student Convocation, a cherished tradition that prayerfully welcomes new students and their families into the Brophy community. This year’s convocation was particularly special, as it marked the arrival of the Class of 2028, coinciding with the school’s centennial year, as well as the Loyola Academy Scholar Class of 2031.
The ceremony included a prayerful reflection, highlighting the school’s commitment to faith and the Jesuit tradition. The event concluded with a blessing for the new students and their families, setting a positive and hopeful tone for the years to come. As the Class of 2028 begins its journey at Brophy, and the Loyola Academy Scholars continue their academic path, they do so with the full support of the Brophy community.

The event was a tremendous success, offering a day filled with activities aimed at building camaraderie and community.
Students participated in a variety of water-themed activities, with the highlight being the giant water slides set up on Brophy’s baseball field. The pool area was also a popular spot, providing a refreshing way to celebrate the start of the new academic year. Lively music, engaging games and a festive atmosphere contributed to a day of smiles and new friendships.
