Football Wins Holy Bowl with Notre Dame Prep

The Brophy football team improved to 5-0 with a 40-0 win over Notre Dame Prep on Friday at Central High School. Case Vanden Bosch threw for a career-best 227 yards and a touchdown and added 117 yards on the ground with two scores to lead the offensive effort.

Vanden Bosch was 9-for-15 with a touchdown to Devin Fitzgerald, who led the team with four catches for a career-best 103 yards. Daylen Sharper had two catches for 69 yards, and Nathan Benzie grabbed two for 50 yards.

The Bronco rushing attack tallied 180 yards with a 7.5 per-rush average behind Vanden Bosch’s second consecutive 100-yard yard. Harrison Chambers and Carlos Estrada both had rushing touchdowns in the shutout.

The defense was strong from the start, recording a safety on the first Saint possession while holding the Saints off the scoreboard. It was the team's second shutout this season. Matt Hernandez led the team with five tackles, including two for loss. 

Brophy hosts Basha (4-1) on Friday.
