Golf Ready for AIA State Tournament on Wednesday

The Brophy College Prep golf team tees off Wednesday at the AIA Division I State Championships at Aguila Golf Course.

The Broncos enter the tournament as the favorite in the Division I field. Brophy won eight dual matches, the Brophy Rodeo in August and the Peaks Invitational last month in Flagstaff. The Broncos were the runner-up at the Brophy Invitational behind Division II state champ Notre Dame Prep.

A Washington State commit, senior Dylan Boening returns for his third state championship appearance. He helped the Broncos win the title in 2022 and place second in 2023. He was 14th overall at 144.

Sophomores Asher Nelson and Evan Tyree will compete in their second state tournaments, while sophomore Jack Langbein and freshman Hank Miller will be in their first.

Brophy starts at 9:00 a.m. with Boenning, followed every 10 minutes by Nelson, Tyree, Langbein and Miller.
