Football’s Nassim Isaac Commits to Northern Arizona University

Brophy senior tight end Nassim Issac has committed to Nothern Arizona University and will attend Flagstaff's Big Sky Conference school this fall.

“I chose NAU because I love the coaching staff and how they chose to believe in me,” said Isaac. “I enjoyed talking to Coach Fett on my visit; he was also a walk-on at Iowa State. It was good to hear his story, making me believe in myself even more. He was invested and treated me like one of his top recruits.”

Isaac was a three-year letter-winner for the Broncos. He had nine catches for 78 yards and a touchdown as a senior. He helped the Broncos reach the AIA 6A Conference semifinal and post a 10-3 overall record. He also had a touchdown in the season opener against Williams Field as a junior before a season-ending injury.

“What a senior year Nassim had after getting hurt early in his junior campaign,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “In a day and age of tight ends being glorified wide receivers, Nassim had some throwback football in his blood. He could put his hand in the ground, knock defensive linemen back, or flex out and run with smaller linebackers. The tight end position is one of the hardest to find, and Nassim will be tough to replace. I am thrilled that NAU is giving him a chance because he deserves it.”

Isaac was named to the 2024 All-Central Region second team at the offensive flex position. He also played two seasons of basketball and one on the track and field team. He was also a member of the pickleball and environmental clubs.

Isaac originally came to Brophy as a basketball player but decided to try football during his freshman year. After a year as an offensive lineman, he switched to tight end on the junior varsity team.

“Coach Simons helped me develop a lot,” said Isaac. “He taught me the routes and blocking. By our sixth game, I was pulled up to varsity in my first year playing tight end. It made me start a fire inside me because I had coaches around me who encouraged me.”

Isaac, majoring in finance, will join the NAU team in Flagstaff, coached by Brian Wright, who led the Lumberjacks into the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs in his first season.

“I loved the team, and they all hang out together,” said Isaac. “I loved the whole program.”

He will fondly remember his time at Brophy, especially the Dad’s Retreat at Manresa.  “It was amazing to be part of the winning teams,” said Isaac. “Every year, we were more together.”
