Archery Finishes Second at State Championships

The Brophy College Prep archery team finished second at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) State finals. The 24 archers combined for 22 personal bests, earning second-place finishes in bullseye and 3D.

“This season it took the entire team, performing their best as individuals, to reach the podium at State,” said Head Coach Scott Wagy. “In an inspiring display of team unity and spirit, our 24 archers recorded 22 personal bests.  They achieved second-place team finishes in bullseye and 3D, against the toughest competition we have ever faced.”

Brophy was the runner-up for the second consecutive season and placed among the top two teams in six seasons with three state championships (21, 22, 23).

Sophomore Valentine Morales led the 3D archers, placing fourth overall and top in his class with a score of 278. Junior TC Collum was sixth at 27, and freshman Mason Hutchison was seventh overall and the top freshman at 275.

Hutchison was fifth in Bullseye and the top freshman with a 279. Senior Nathan Villavicencio was eighth at 276 and fourth in his class. Morales led all sophomores at 272, ranking 11th overall.
