Golf Wins 10th AIA State Golf Championship

The Brophy College Prep golf team totaled 568 for a three-under-par total to post a 21-stroke win over second-place Perry (589 and third-place Millennium (598) to win the 2024 AIA Division I State Championship. Senior Dylan Boenning led the Broncos with a six-under-par 66 in the second round to finish second overall.
The Broncos won the state title for the second time in three years and 10th overall in school history, tied for the third-best total in state history.
The team's win at state culminated in a dominating season. Brophy won eight dual matches, including the Brophy Rodeo in August and the Peaks Invitational last month in Flagstaff. The Broncos finished second at the Brophy Invitational. 
Boenning, who shot a three-under-par 69 to tie for sixth after day one, birdied his first two holes and five overall on the front nine to shoot a 31. He added two birdies on the back nine and his only bogey with a 35 to total 66, finishing one stroke back of individual champion Hamilton’s Joseph Nelson.
Sophomore Asher Nelson tied for fifth at 142 after shooting 69-72, while Jack Langbein tied for 10th after shooting 69-73. Freshman Hank Miller posted 150 (76-74) to tie for 21st, and sophomore Evan Tyee shot 154 (77-77).
